I often find myself using one of my parenting techniques when the pre-dinner chaos ensues. There are a variety of different ways I can distract them from the munchies, following me like puppies and overall circumstance of being permanently planted at my feet. Every parent knows that distraction can be your best friend in these moments. Luckily { big boy little } had a new lego kit keeping him busy. I asked { baby little } to help make cornbread for dinner. He was uninterested until I pulled the whisk from the drawer. He was hooked. Canon 5D III || Sigma 35 ART

I adore everything about this. The way be points with his hand turned up. Looking out the window to the trees in the backyard. The sun was going down and it was a moment just the two of us. His PJs were waiting for him. But for a minute it was just quiet as he was showing me the view in his world.
Oh be still my heart. No, that isn't something I generally say, but it fits this image completely. Those beautiful blue eyes starting back at me. My little model as I do the last test run before my first school portraits this Friday. He looks like a boy in this image. The baby features already starting to melt away. Slow down my little love. Keep those chubby arms, full cheeks and that tiny toddler voice for just a little while longer. Canon 5DIII || Sigma 50 ART
This scene may not be unlike any other family with little people, but it makes me smile. { Baby little } sitting on the counter because he is too small to reach the sink. { Big boy little } already running the routine on his own. Although such a small part of our everyday, I will look back and smile and how small they are at this very moment. 5D Mark III || Tamron 24-70
I am so proud. She has done something that I am not sure I could do. Working full time and finishing her degree. Late nights, little sleep...and some serious hard work. This is an accomplishment you carry with you forever. Love you E.E. I cannot take credit for the following image, as I am clearly in it and no remote in sight. I however, have to note how my father has rubbed off on my husband. The look on her face is a genuine reaction to the goosing she was getting! If you know my dad at all, it would not surprise you one bit that he did something similar when shaking my soon-to-be-husband's hand while giving me away at our wedding. I am surrounded by little boys ;) Canon 5DIII || Tamron 24-70
Two things they love wrapped up into one weekend. Animals and Aunt Kiki. The three of them (+ furry Mags) snuggled on the couch watching Baymax & Hiro transform into super heros for, maybe the 100th time. And a bond between { baby little } and Aunt Kiki has been sealed. Although he has always loved her, this weekend he was attached. Love watching my baby sis with my baby littles. Canon 5DIII || Tamron 24-70
It's nap time so the house is quiet. Almost too quiet for { big boy little } who asks how long until his brother is awake. He plays with the kit Nena got him quite a bit. The clear Laser Pegs light up and can be made into so many different things that it keeps him trying new configurations. I am amazed at how well he follows the directions almost entirely on his own. This is our nightly routine. We get the littles ready for bed and the boys and I snuggle into the rocking chair for a book...or 2, or 3. { Baby little } points to the pictures, telling us about everything he sees in the story, while { big boy little } and I laugh (or become exasperated) by his persistence. If you don't acknowledge what he is showing you, he repeats it endlessly or makes you return to the page for review. One day we won't all fit in this chair together, but today we do, so I relish it. For the most part they are playing together, but you can certainly find them doing their own thing from time to time. { Big Boy Little } crawled up onto the chair with his dry erase pad, marker & eraser to work on the alphabet. { Baby little } spent his time stacking tupperware and toting it around in a backpack. It was quiet and they were content. I enjoy watching them delve into something to the point of barely knowing anyone is there. Canon 5D III | Sigma 50 ART

What now?It truly is a labor of love each day to search for just the right image(s)...the ones that represent our daily lives...edit them, organize them, write about them. What a wonderful experience and an amazing amount of growth this year for me. It has been a great journey but one I am not jumping into again just yet. I am going to take a breather, let the dust settle and let inspiration find me and lead me to my next project. For now, I will continue to post about our lives but only when I feel it.
