It was a Christmas present. It only took us 10 months to get to bury the dinosaur dig kit. With shovels in hand they headed out to the back yard and surprisingly enough, it didn't take them long to find the spot. The look on his face. They chiseled away at the block to find a dinosaur tooth, bone and poop. Yep, poop. You know they loved that. It reminds me that even the simplest of activities can make for a perfect evening. He has saved enough since the beginning of his allowance to open his own savings account. He brought his jar filled with 53 one-dollar-bills, counted them out and smiled...proud of how much he had but not really sure the importance of saving...just yet. Canon 450D || Canon 24 pancake
It was an ordinary Monday. There was nothing particularly unique about this day, but I'm grateful for it, none-the-less. I am here, with them. And sometimes the ordinary days end up being the best. iphone 6
My 5-year-old chose to take me on a date for my birthday. How can he possibly be old enough to take me on a date? I love it. I love that spending time just the two of us is something special. He made a reservation (with daddy's help) and brought his wallet to pay, just like a gentleman should. He gave his name for the reservation and we sat at the hibachi table together, loving the time just us two. To be honest, he were quiet for a bit...enjoying the entertainment. But before long he was laughing and telling me silly stories. Thank you my guy...for a lovely dinner, and for your love and hugs. Canon 5DIII || Sigma 35 ART
It's a Scholl family tradition. It started before I remember; a lasting gift from my Aunt Josie. Although I didn't know it was her until I was well into my teenage years. Every year on a random day in October, the doorbell would ring and on the front porch would be a set of pumpkins with a note from The Great Pumpkin. My dad and sister have continued the tradition with my boys. Canon 5DIII || Sigma 35 ART
I stepped onto the edge of the park on the most beautiful day. It was simply perfect. It was slightly cool, crisp and the leaves were just starting to change. The sun was sparkling on the lake. I was waiting to meet my clients for their photoshoot and had just a couple minutes to soak in the morning. This is fall. Canon 5D III || Sigma 35 ART
A week of green stars, means a trip to the treasure box in Mrs. Canning's room. A trail of his backpack and shoes lined the hall...he immediately needed to test out his paratrooper. It took a few attempts, but when he finally got him to float...and the look on his face priceless. Even the most simple things can bring the greatest joy. Canon 5DIII || Sigma 24 ART
The minute the bananas start to brown, { big boy little } is angling to make chocolate chip banana bread. I can almost sit back and let them do it on their own. Well, almost. Canon 5D III || Sigma 35 ART
We needed fresh air. We downed our lunch and shuffled outside for the last 30 minutes before the bus came. { Baby little } is all about doing things himself. He watches his big brother do so much on his own that it's no surprise he wants little assistance from mommy or big brother on things he feels he can do on his own. "I can do it"...and most of the time, he can. It's easy to forget he is only 2. His language skills baffle me...our conversations...incredible. Everywhere we go, people ask how old he is, in disbelief that he can speak so well. I am proud of that beautiful mind of his. Canon 5D III || Sigma 35 ART
I brought back mexican finger puppets, camera pens and cowboy hats for my boys. Daddy got a San Antonio mug. We spent the day playing sheriff and arresting bad guys. The cutest cowboys I have ever seen. Canon 5D III || Sigma 35 ART

What now?It truly is a labor of love each day to search for just the right image(s)...the ones that represent our daily lives...edit them, organize them, write about them. What a wonderful experience and an amazing amount of growth this year for me. It has been a great journey but one I am not jumping into again just yet. I am going to take a breather, let the dust settle and let inspiration find me and lead me to my next project. For now, I will continue to post about our lives but only when I feel it.
