Oh my heart. My beautiful boy and those gorgeous eyelashes. Why is it that boys always have the best eyelashes? He was working on legos when I saw this shot and asked if I could take a series of shots of just him. A year ago he would have been too into whatever he was doing. But now...he actually enjoys having his photo taken. He can stay in the moment and not let the camera influence what he is doing or he's happy to comply with my requests and direction. I am enjoying this phase. Canon 5D II | Sigma 50 ART

Even boys like to play house. Although my hunch is that our play may be slightly different than little girls. Do little girls hide from dragons in their house? Hmm, maybe. { Baby little } and I spent the morning repairing his cottage, making meals (broccoli smoothies, yum..thanks buddy) and hiding from dragons. Time well spent, for sure. I am exhausted tonight. We just spent 2 hours with a window sales person while our little tornados, I mean kids, sought ways to entertain themselves. I wasn't sure what I was going to photograph tonight, but I am on a roll and there is no way I am missing a post. So as I looked around for inspiration, I decided on a little self-portrait with my trusty 5D II, would be a decent blog post for the night. The two of us have been a pair for 3 years now. I have been thinking about all the amazing moments we have captured together. The first photos of my { baby little }, my big boys first t-ball season, the four of us on Christmas morning, weddings and babies and beautiful families...all with my fancy big girl camera. Looking forward to capturing many more moments together. P.S. Are you curious what I used as a reflection for this image. Maybe not, but I'll tell you anyways since I thought it was a super idea and one you probably wouldn't guess. That's our new microwave with the mirrored front. Not a bad idea, huh. Ok. So it's not the most artistic image. In fact, you might even be wondering what you are really looking at. Well, I'll tell ya. That's my baby. Hiding from... MY CAMERA. Gasp!! Too soon, too soon. Please tell me that you are not avoiding your mother's obsession with daily documenting already. Rut roh. I'm in trouble. Canon 5D II | Canon 35 2.0
My little chef. This morning he was helping me make breakfast by cutting strawberries. His Nena & Pawpaw bought him this kid-friendly knife for Christmas so he could be my assistant :) Even boys like helping their mama in the kitchen. Canon 5D II | Canon 35 2.0
This moment is so representative of who they are right now. {Baby Little} is watching his big brother's every move. He's studying him. He's imitating everything that he sees and hears. "Chug chug, choo choo. All board"...in his beautiful little baby talk...missing the "a" sounds. He is lucky to have a big brother who is nurturing and playful, and loves finding ways to include him. We took a family trip to the Rainforest today (in the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo). It's the perfect place to go to get out of the house on a snowy winter day. The boys particularly loved the bats, monkeys and tarantulas. But what I loved, was something a bit different. Something that happens almost everyday. It's something I don't want to forget or take for granted. Without even a thought he reaches for my hand. I don't want to think about a day that this won't happen and I fear it's coming sooner than I know. But until that time comes, I will savor every minute and take it all in. Canon 5D II | Tamron 17-35
Oh those little feet. I have been meaning to capture the way he tucks his little toes up under the tray of his highchair. He does this for every meal. Is he the only one? I don't know why, but I just love it. Be sure to check out the last image. Yup. Peanut butter everywhere, just chillin, eating a banana. Canon 5D II | Canon 35 2.0
Even mommy's need playdates. The fabulous Tara Dee Photography joined me for a mini photo shoot for the class we are taking. Coffee, cameras and fabulous chit chat...that's my kind of playdate. Isn't she beautiful! Canon 5D II | Sigma 50 ART
Sometimes I rush bedtime, I won't lie. There is a running list in my head that's distracting me from the moment...I am missing the moment. So I'm trying to slow myself down. We always read books before bed. As I was snapping photos, trying to document our nightly reading routine, he was showing me pictures and asking me questions. But then I put the camera down, we read, snuggled, giggled and then it was time for sleep. When I tried to leave he said, through his tears, "but I like you mommy, stay with me". How do you say no to that? You just don't. Canon 5D II | Canon 35 2.0

What now?It truly is a labor of love each day to search for just the right image(s)...the ones that represent our daily lives...edit them, organize them, write about them. What a wonderful experience and an amazing amount of growth this year for me. It has been a great journey but one I am not jumping into again just yet. I am going to take a breather, let the dust settle and let inspiration find me and lead me to my next project. For now, I will continue to post about our lives but only when I feel it.
