Today I pressed the shutter 2000 times. I spent 10 hours on my feet. And I loved it. I am a wedding photographer. I love the rush of the event, and capturing the story that took months of tedious planning and thought. And after all of the hard work, happiness and tears of joy...I am memory keeper. The flowers will be gone, her dress boxed and stored in the closet of the house they create together. Every tedious detail will be stored or gone...but in 10 years, 20 years, 100, nothing will be left but the images I took this day. What an amazing thing. To be the memory keeper. It is not a job I take lightly as I pour over the images...making sure every last detail is preserved. Canon 5DIII || Tamron 24-70

We had no power at 9 in the morning so in our pjs, we ventured outside for fun with pawpaw. Just like one of the kids, he digs in and enjoys my boys. Whether it's drawing with sidewalk chalk, riding bikes, or wrestling on the family room floor, he's always in the thick of it with them...experiencing their childhood right with them. I couldn't image it any other way. Grandparents are a gift. I know mine were. Canon 5DIII || Tamron 24-70
We went to the Children's Museum of Cleveland today with friends. Boats, shopping carts and water play. What kiddo wouldn't love that? Fuji x100 || Cleveland Lifestyle Photographer
Frozen yogurt date with my boys. Pure and simple. Fuji x100 || Cleveland Lifestyle Family Photographer
We were making pizzas. I set up my camera on the shelf, pulled out the remote for my camera and got in the shot with my boys. The image is soft and the lighting isn't great, but it's the 3 of us. { Baby little } was caught licking the sauce off of the spatula and { big boy little } ate more cheese than he put on his pizza. Perfection. Canon 5DIII || Sigma 35 ART
Picnic lunch and a playground stop. He insisted on playing basketball first, of course. It's the simple fun. The uncrustables, the sound of pounding feet on the mulch and the smiles, oh the smiles. That's what makes a perfect day for me. Fuji x100 || Cleveland Lifestyle Photographer
Daddy took him to play ball for the first time this afternoon and it was all over from there. He insisted on going back that night so he could show me his moves. This is what he should be doing, Testing the waters. Trying things on to see if they fit. He chooses, and we follow his passions...and not the other way around. Explore, baby, that's what life is all about. And, my love, there will be bumps, bruises and scrapes along the way, you have to get back up and go at it again when it is something that fits you. This is our annual tradition. Since we moved into our house 6 years ago, we host on the 4th. Food, friends, kids running around (although that wasn't always the case) and Strongsville city fireworks to end the night. The kids look forward to the glowsticks and sparklers....big boy little talks about it for days before. For the past few years I bring my big girl camera and we get a pic of each of the families...I always love this pic of us. We quickly grab the kids as they run around in the field, snap a quick pic and they go quickly back to whatever shenanigans that had started. I can't imagine spending the 4th any differently. Working from home takes on new meaning when you have little people. { Baby little } wanted to see what daddy was working on. I left them to drive him crazy so I could enjoy a quick shower without interruption. Thanks love. After lunch I herded the flock outside so daddy could have some peace. We played baseball, rode bikes and tuckered { baby little } out for his nap.
Once { baby little } was snoozing away, { big boy little } and I worked on his summer learning books. We learned about butterflies and the stages of the butterfly. He always wants his work to be accurate so he asks me to find an image on my phone for him to follow. He must be my son. |
What now?It truly is a labor of love each day to search for just the right image(s)...the ones that represent our daily lives...edit them, organize them, write about them. What a wonderful experience and an amazing amount of growth this year for me. It has been a great journey but one I am not jumping into again just yet. I am going to take a breather, let the dust settle and let inspiration find me and lead me to my next project. For now, I will continue to post about our lives but only when I feel it.
